Membership Benefits & Obligations

Membership in a relevant learned professional organization is one of the factors that distinguishes a profession from a conventional job and it is a key element that defines a professional.

In the education sector, membership of SEAN professional organization is the ultimate for all professionals irrespective of your present career level, or whether you are a sociologist, educational planner, registrar, bursar, head teacher, or psychologist, chemist or other basic discipline. It is important to support the advancement of one’s profession, and, becoming a member of the Society of Educational Administrators is a part of that advancement.

Involvement with SEAN will afford the member an opportunity to network with other colleagues in the education sector because, connections with others who have similar interests reinforces your confidence and commitment to growth in the career. It enables new professionals to associate with senior members of the profession and learn from them.   Joining a professional organization is therefore critical in keeping abreast of the latest knowledge, thinking and practices locally, state-wise, nationally and globally. It helps you as a professional to stay abreast of current issues and opportunities and will also assist in personal advancement if you choose to really become involved.

SEAN will offer continuing education, seminars, and lectures along with other opportunities for learning and an active member will have the opportunity to serve in professional development of self and others, while collaborating with members within and outside your institution or place of work, will build leadership skills.

There will be events that may call for public speaking skills and professional visibility which will assist in moving your career to another level by connecting with other professions and local leaders in your area. SEAN will benefit from members’ service and the members will be rewarded in return by such things as personal fulfillment, professional enrichment, and building a stronger resume as a result.

SEAN gives members opportunities to team, exchange ideas, share institutional, professional and personal strategies, and provide an effective voice on matters of public policy in the domain of educational administration in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Corporate and Institutional Members receive the quarterly Journal of the Society of Educational Administrators free. It will provide a wide range of refereed articles of technical and general interest; book reviews, professional news, comments, and appointments vacant.

Corporate members would benefit from reduced rates for nominees attending conferences, seminars, or workshops organized by the Society and similarly reduced rates when using the Society’s consultancy services.

Every member of whatever category shall pay the initial registration and annual subscription when due, shall project, to the best of his/her ability the objectives, Interest and Influence of the Society and shall not abuse his/her connection with the Society. Membership renewals shall be due on their respective anniversary.
